The Beaver Section
Beaver Scouts are young people aged between six and eight years old.
They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people join our Beaver Scouts when they are six, although, as we have a waiting list for this section, parents can put names down up to 12 months before this. They normally move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years three months, and usually with a fellow Beaver.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.
Our Beaver Scout Colony also organise Sleep overs. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable buildings, - we have access to the Church and the Baden-Powell Centre.
Currently the 5th Edgware only accept boys as Beavers. This will have to change within the next couple of years when Scouting goes unisex however, there is a very strong Rainbow Group the Guide equivalent of Beavers in the John Keble BP organisations.
The Beaver Promise is:
I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love God.
The Beaver Scout Motto is
Be Prepared
