The 5th Edgware (John Keble) Scout Group has been providing quality Scouting since our founding in 1933. It is our mission to give the highest standard of Scouting within our resources. We believe the best way to achieve this goal is to keep up to date with the Aims of the Scout Association. Group Leaders Graham Clark has served with the 5th Edgware Scout Group as Group Scout Leader since 1989. Before that he served as Scout Leader with the 8th Hendon (St. Mary’s) Scout Group. He has been involved in Scouting since 1960 when he joined the (Wolf) Cubs and has been involved in Scouting in Portsmouth, Ashford (Kent), and Willesden before moving to London. Graham was awarded the Queens Scout Award in the early 70’s whilst with the 8th Hendon (St. Mary’s) Scout Group and has the Wood Badge, Bar to Long Service and Bar to the Medal of Merit awards whilst with the 5th Edgware Scout Group. Gill Young (Keeo) has served with the 5th Edgware Scout Group as Beaver Scout Leader since 1988. Gill helped create the Beaver section in 1988 and she also shares the role of District Beaver Leader in the Hendon & Edgware District. We are very lucky to have her skills. Gill was awarded the Medal of merit for her services to Scouting through Beavers in May 2004. Gill has the Wood Badge, Long Service and Medal of Merit awards. In 2007 Adam Flower (Hawkeye), Gill’s assistant swapped places with Gill and took control of the Beaver Section. Alice Eustace (Akela) has stepped into the breach as our Cub Scout Leader. Alice has progressed through scouting and came to us after completing her young leader training. After a short time as Assistant Cub Scout Leader, Alice now heads the Cub Section. Nick Jackson has served with the 5th Edgware Scout Group as a Beaver, Cub, Scout, Young Leader and since 2007 is now Scout Leader. A special mention goes to Isobel Godfrey, a former Cub Scout Leader and is now an Honorary Scouter for her services to the Group. Isobel decided that the age of retirement was not a bar to Scouting and has been helping with the Cubs ever since her hypothetical “retirement”. Isobel has the Bar to Long Service and Bar to the Medal of Merit awards. Unfortunately, Isobel has had to retire through health and we thank her for such loyal services and devotion to the 5th. |
